Suhar, 8 July 2023 – SOHAR Port and Freezone signed a land lease agreement with Elite Hazardous Waste Management Solution (FZC), to set-up a Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant in SOHAR Freezone. The agreement aims to enhance waste management practices in the region, while promoting sustainability and enhancing the circular economy cluster in SOHAR Port and Freezone.
With a total investment of $3.5 million, the plant-with an area of 10,000 sqm, designed to treat industrial waste, will ensure compliance with local and international regulations for a pollution-free environment. The plant’s produced end products will include heavy oil for utilization in slow-moving machines, as well as low-contamination carbon dust suitable for cement and road construction industries.

With an initial production capacity of 40 tons per day, projected to increase to 80 tons per day within one year, the agreement signifies the strong commitment of Elite Hazardous Waste Management Solution (FZC) and SOHAR Freezone towards advancing waste management practices and fostering economic growth in the region.
