SOHAR Freezone :

You can easily form a Freezone company at SOHAR Freezone with low capital requirements. Simply fill in the electronic application form available on our website (link: for the electronic copy), or contact our Commercial Freezone Team. Key steps to starting a business:

  • Fill in the application form and attach a copy of all shareholders passports
  • If the application is approved, the registration will take one working day only

Cost of business setup in SOHAR Freezone starts at OMR 1,050 for commercial registration. Other costs are license fees, depending on the activity type and visa expenses.

Low working capital is needed to open a Freezone business, paid-up capital is not mandatory.

Foreign investors can establish a business with 100 % ownership.

The license is valid for operations in the Freezone territory only. The same license cannot be used to set up a business outside SOHAR Freezone. Products can be sold within the Omani local market through distributors.
In order to obtain a license, a company must have a facility within SOHAR Freezone.

Two options are available:
  • You can establish a new Freezone company with new commercial registration to enjoy all Freezone incentives.
  • You can get a Service Providers License and provide your services to our tenants
Yes, you will be eligible to get Oman residence/ working visas valid for 2 years. These are subject to immigration approval.

Yes, you can. You should provide the documents below to be able to sponsor wife and children.
  • Contract agreement of your apartment or house
  • An attested marriage certificate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Muscat
  • Copy of your family members passports
  • 4 personal photo (with a blue background) for each member of the family
  • A letter of no objection for the joining family, with stamp and signature from the company manager
  • Your salary must be no less than 300 OMR per month

You can register your company at SOHAR Freezone without being present in Oman.
