SOHAR Port and Freezone has recently been
awarded the International Certificate of Asset Management System (ISO 55001)
from Lloyd’s Register Group. The certification positions SOHAR as a forerunner
in the sector, making it the first port in the Middle East to receive the
accolade.
Highlighting the importance of this award,
Mark Geilenkirchen, CEO of SOHAR Port said, “We are very proud to have been
awarded the ISO 55001 certification, which goes on demonstrate our commitment
towards delivering only the best quality services to our customers as per their
expectations and ensuring that the management and maintenance of our
infrastructure aligns with international standards. We believe that the
standard, which began its implementation at the end of 2018, will attract new
business opportunities while simultaneously supporting the efficiency of our
already existing tenants.”
TheISO 55001 is an international standard framework to manage port
infrastructure. This is done by transforming an organisation’s objectives into
asset-related decisions, plans and activities utilising a risk-based approach.
Achieving this certification enhances and regulates the Asset Management
processes at SOHAR, in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, through a
structured approach that is linked to its organisational objectives.
Furthermore, it undoubtedly contributes towards the development of SOHAR, reinforcing
their reputation for constant improvement.
Eng. Ali Al Yamani, Executive Technical
Manager at SOHAR Port and Freezone, stated, “I would like to extend my
gratitude to all our employees and the project team for all their efforts in
enabling us to receive the ISO 55001 certification. This is a truly incredible
achievement and further positions SOHAR as a leading logistics hub in the
region.”
